Formula E - Operations Manager

The Role:

This is a fast paced role that offers a variety of responsiblities for managing the Formula E Battery Operations. As the Formula E Operations Manager you will be responsible for the P&L, ensuring operational excellence of the track support team, ongoing product maintenance and logistics, and customer ordered product manufacture and delivery. 

You will be working alongside the Formula E Trackside Operations Team Leader and will interface with all McLaren Applied Technologie's  internal departments, working to proactively manage issues, risks and opportunities and executing mitigation plans as required. 

 

The role will include some global travel where required for supporting the supply chain management and Formula E event. 

 

Responsiblities:

  • Maintains the project plan, allocates and forecasts team resources and coordinates internal support work required by engineering, manufacturing, quality, purchasing, supply chain and finance teams
  • Reporting of project status to Business Unit and Executive team with appropriate escalation of issues.
  • Assists the procurement team with managing external suppliers including issue resolution, new production scheduling and use of  supply quality team for production auditing and product acceptance
  • Leads the response to product supply, performance, reliability and quality issues.  Mobilises and manages an internal cross functional team and coordinates supplier teams to contain and resolve issues in a timely manner
  • Co-ordinates the service & returns process ensuring that trackside servicing, spare part inventory management, returns logistics, and customer billing are conducted effectively
  • Oversees product delivery and returns logistics, ensuring the necessary product certifications and required personnel qualifications are maintained throughout race seasons
  • Ensures team and facility health and safety processes and procedures are maintained and periodically reviewed with support from the MAT H&S manager
  • Supports the track support team with coordinating team travel arrangements race and test events, arranging maintenance / procurement of trackside equipment and garage equipment logistics
  • Supports the track support team with maintenance of the European battery service workshop

 

Requirements:

  • First class degree or upper 2nd in relevant discipline, or equivalent experience, plus appropriate professional qualification.  Proven track record in project management with experience working within an operational environment preferably in Motorsport.

 

Skills and Experience:

  • Ability to identify and anticipate where main project effort should be deployed and executed appropriately
  • Understands skills and experience of team members and key processes in relevant business area.
  • Ability to manage workload across a diverse team including skills outside of own area of experience
  • Able to lead a team in the delivery of tasks and being able to mentor team members.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
