Purpose:

The Engineering Manager role within any department at McLaren Automotive has an important purpose and body interiors is no exception.

As a Leader, you will need to ensure all programmes are fully resourced, this will include resource allocation and ensure delivery on several targets including weight, cost, performance, and timing.

You will be responsible for overall management of interiors across all vehicle programmes, working in a cross functional and cohesive environment with Body Manager’s and Engineering Managers for respective vehicle series programmes.

 

You will also provide leadership to 3 x Principal Engineers and their respective teams, that consist of Project Engineers and Design Engineer that form part of Cabin, Interior Trim and Seating commodity groups.

As Engineering Manager, you can expect to work with different people and teams and work together to think about future roadmaps, empowering your Principal Engineers to develop emerging technology. Part of your role will also include working with managing outsourced engineering partners.

There will be plenty of variety within the role, not only in terms of responsibilities and tasks but the engineering of many components and systems, managing issues, solving problems and being involved with everything else from pre-concept phase through to production.

There will be various challenges you will face, depending on your background and skills. You may be a Principal Engineer to which your immediate challenge will be to develop your man management experience. For those with proven Engineering management experience, you can expect to spend time becoming familiar with the uniqueness of each project.

To be successful in this role you should have extensive automotive experience with proven experience within interiors at some point during your career. You have probably worked your way through project and/or design engineering positions and are now ready for something new.
