End of Line Workshop Controller

As part of our Track25 business plan we will launch 18 new models or derivatives of our vehicles and look to expand our retailer network into new markets with an aim of having 100 retailers globally.  


Track 25 and McLaren Automotive’ s growing reputation is testament to our world class employees. To ensure McLaren Automotive continues to be at the forefront of the Automotive market, we are looking for a Workshop Controller to join our End of Line team.


Purpose of the role:

The role will be to carry out basic supervisory duties, overseeing the work allocation of a small, multi-functional team, reporting to the Production Team Leader.  The role encourages involvement in improving performance for the team, in quality and cost control, productivity and areas of safety. The role requires a flexible approach to working hours, possibility including shifts and weekend work.


Principal accountabilities:

  • Allocation of tasks to suit correct skill set, ensuring a good and consistent flow of product in / out of the ramps.
  • Assessing cars as they enter the zone, looking at repair times and presenting accurate out flow assessments.
  • Ensure all technicians are trained and are using the POD and dealer portal systems effectively.
  • Ensuring correct management of the McLaren Vehicle Passport and all other documentation from a technician level.
  • Absorbing and feeding back any quality or production concerns encountered.
  • Work as part of a team on the definition and solution of problems that may be affecting the quality, cost or productivity of the vehicles being produced.
  • Ensuring rework technicians under your supervision follow detailed work instructions relating to the repairing and assembling of vehicles.
  • Ensure that all rework operations on each vehicle are completed to the required quality and safety standard.
  • Ensure that all operations are completed to the required timescale. Using the Dealer Workshop Manual as the official guide.
  • To monitor and manage NCP cost for the area. With a view to eliminating production cost from all parts related issues.
  • Attend the workplace on a regular and timely basis, informing the team leader of any lateness or unplanned absence in a timely manner.
  • Ensure the work area is clean, tidy and orderly at all times, in line with brand expectations.
  • Lead by example and showcase good appearance and exemplary behaviour.
  • Maintain a safe working environment for yourself and other team members, participating in safety activities as requested.
  • Participate in continuous improvement activities as requested.
  • Understand and adhere to the McLaren Values and help grow the Automotive Brand.


Knowledge, skills and experience:

  • No formal qualifications are necessary; however, a foundation in engineering and/or experience within   automotive or manufacturing would be a distinct advantage.
  • Prior experience of supervising a team is desirable.
  • Prior experience of working to timescales would be advantageous.
  • Quality focused with meticulous attention to detail.
