We now have a fantastic opportunity for a Diagnostic Engineer to join our Aftersales team based in Woking, Surrey.

 

Principal accountabilities for position:

  • Coordinate and execute Diagnostic software testing on vehicles under the direction of the Senior Diagnostic Engineer.
  • Create and test Diagnostic Content, including Guided Trouble Shooting test programs.
  • Monitor Engineering changes and evaluate the impact this has on Aftersales diagnostics.
  • Liaise with the Technical Support department to address any field concerns and support Service deliverables.
  • Create reports, and carry out data analysis to identify service concerns.                         
  • Liaise with our service partner staff, other McLaren Automotive departments, and suppliers, as required.
  • Provide diagnostic hardware and software support to end users.
  • Perform day-to-day duties associated with the sale of new diagnostic hardware.
  • Support the Senior Diagnostic Engineer with future diagnostic projects, such as Connected Car integration and new software solutions.   
     

Knowledge, skills and experience for position:

  • Educated to degree level or equivalent.
  • Previous role in a vehicle manufacture or Original Equipment Supplier, experience in lieu will be considered (3-5y).
  • Computer literate – Microsoft Office suite.
  • Understanding of software application development and release procedures, along with project tracking system (i.e. Mantis, Jira, HPQC).
  • Knowledge of ECU Diagnostic standards including but not limited to ODX, OTX, EOBD, SAE J1979.
  • Knowledge of Automotive Vehicle Controller Area Networks (CAN) systems.
  • Knowledge of Diagnostics over Internet protocol (DoIP) and connected car concepts an advantage.
  • Knowledge of vehicle operating systems (EPB, ABS, HVAC, Engine, and Transmissions).
  • Conversant with Softing or Vector engineering tools (Monaco, Venice, CANape, CANoe, CANanalyser etc) an advantage but not essential.
  • Experience of using oscilloscopes to investigate and diagnose complex vehicle faults.
