Purpose of the role:

Support the Head of Design Operations & Delivery in applying the Project Governance process and tools to enable Design delivery and business imperatives with robust, efficient and consistent delivery of vehicle projects.
Create and maintain design studio project plans and interdependences with Design Managers and Vehicle Program Managers. Flag up risks to ensure all Design Studio programs for MAL and MSO are delivered on time and in budget


Principal accountabilities:

  • Enable the Design Team to “Design breath-taking products that tell the visual story of their function”.
  • Maintain and manage MDP timeline and headcount HLP plans for all Design Studio programs.
  • Maintain and manage Design Studio tracker for headcount and D&D for all Design Studio programs.
  • Align with Head of Operations and align/agree with Vehicle Program Managers to enable Design Studio delivery, optimising Design strategy to suit individual programme challenges.
  • Update weekly project meeting documents to report Design studio status/risks and support needed.
  • Responsible for programme review pack preparation and presenting status to Head of Operations & Design Director.
  • Lead small dedicated project meetings to track the progress of each project to ensure the Design Studio is always on time and in budget.
  • Work with the Head of Design Operations to resource all headcount and agree studio locations for all programmes
  • Maintain all gateway slides and support project meetings ensuring the Design Team has all relevant information to report to the programme.
  • Maintain Financial tracking across all programs within design.
  • Raise PO’s for Design Delivery function and monitor progress to completion.
  • Provide support to Head of Operations where needed for travel and expenditure costs.
  • Build strong cross departmental partnerships.



  • Knowledge, skills & experience:
  • Education to Degree level preferred
  • Knowledge of Program Management tools and methodologies
  • Previous experience related to high complexity products and multidisciplinary job environment. Automotive experience preferable, aerospace, defence or locomotive industries also considered
  • Proven track record in delivering projects and thorough understanding of automotive business model and product development process
  • Critical, factual and data driven approach based on knowledge of problem solving and cause-effects analysis methodologies
  • Data analysis skills and ability to summarise findings and drive conclusions
  • Management of timing plans, in multi-project contexts
  • Advanced level of MS Excel and proficiency in producing effective presentation and full project reporting
  • Good knowledge of financial and quality metrics
