HR Solutions Manager (SAP HCM)

Purpose of the Role:

The HR Solutions Manager is responsible for managing the HR business solutions service delivery within McLaren IT. The primary role is to lead the HR solutions team to deliver outstanding solutions that enable and drive the McLaren businesses. This involves delivering a flexible high-quality technical capability, strong system and process integrity as well as proactive support services.

This will involve working closely with senior management, wider business stakeholders and CoE colleagues to provide functional expertise, deliver continuous improvement initiatives, and build a roadmap of projects aligned to the business strategy.

Role Dimensions:

  • Lead a small team of IT employees plus multiple external managed service partners
  • Close liaison with Business Solutions extended leadership team and other IT stakeholders
  • Close liaison with the executive leadership team in HR across all McLaren companies
  • Own the development of the support team, processes and technology for HR across all McLaren companies

Principal Accountabilities:

  • Provide the management, leadership and governance of HR business solutions service within the McLaren group of companies
  • Provide functional expertise, guidance, presentations, and leadership on leveraging the capabilities of SAP and other technologies to all stakeholders
  • Provide governance and leadership of the relevant technical support teams in alignment with business requirements and IT strategy.
  • Responsibility for group business relationship management
  • Continual evaluation of new SAP and complementary technologies which could be of potential use to McLaren.
  • Provide functional expertise, guidance, presentations, and leadership on leveraging the capabilities of SAP HCM, and SuccessFactors to business stakeholders
  • Act as principal liaison between business leaders and the CoE for investigating, analysing, and implementing SAP business solutions (this includes documenting and mapping business requirements, analysing processes, identifying business change gaps, and developing the necessary SAP configuration modifications to satisfy business needs)
  • Produce end-to-end solutions for new and existing projects (blueprints, gap analysis, functional specifications, build and test management, etc.)
  • Deliver configuration enhancements from concept to solution (change requests)
  • Manage complex incident resolution (root-cause analysis, problem statements)
  • Deliver continuous improvement releases in line with agreed roadmap
  • Provide high-quality mentoring to team members and business stakeholders to develop HCM expertise across the organisation
  • Working collaboratively with business stakeholders, develop 12 month roadmaps for continuous improvement and project activities
  • Provide excellent responsiveness for level 2 and 3 business support requests
  • Monitor key SAP business processes to ensure they are being followed and where improvement is needed, collaboratively introducing appropriate activities with business users to drive adoption

Knowledge, Skills and Experience:

  • Experience in managing technical support teams (in on-shore and off-shore model)
  • Leading requirement workshops to translate business requirements into business design documents
  • Advise on best practice process and solutions
  • Be able to take this through to guiding technical development if required
  • Lead testing and user acceptance to ensure requirements are met
  • Ensure solutions can effectively transition into live business use
  • Significant, demonstrable experience working in:
    • SAP HCM, in particular Personnel Administration, Organisational Management, Time and Attendance, Payroll and Payroll Interfaces
    • SAP SuccessFactors implementation, in particular Employee Central, Role Based Permissions, Learning Management, Recruitment
    • Service process improvement, reporting and communication
  • In depth understanding of HCM and associated business processes
  • Understanding of Cloud based solutions
  • Demonstrated track record of thought leadership in relevant functional processes
  • Strong analytical skills, technical knowledge, and the ability to communicate findings and recommendations to senior stakeholders
  • Business process analysis and redesign experience: strong business analysis skills; process mapping; business process redesign and implementation
  • Systems implementation skills: requirements/process analysis, conceptual and detailed design, configuration, testing, training, change management, support
  • Strong knowledge of integration points

We offer a flexible working environment across our South-East sites including the world-renowned McLaren Technology Centre. Our environments are designed to encourage collaborative working across all teams. You will be amongst specialists within their field, whether it’s in design, modelling and simulation, software development, data analytics, electronics hardware, finance and marketing.

The Recruitment Process:

  • If your application is successful, you’ll be invited to complete a one-way video interview. 
  • Following successful review, you will then partake in a 30-minute telephone interview with on of our Technical Recruiters. 
  • The final stage will be an onsite face to face interview at the McLaren Technology Centre in Woking, Surrey with the Hiring Manager and wider team.
