Control Systems Manager

As part of our Track25 business plan we will launch 18 new models or derivatives of our vehicles and look to expand our retailer network into new markets with an aim of having 100 retailers globally.
Track 25 and McLaren Automotive’ s growing reputation is testament to our world class employees. To ensure McLaren Automotive continues to be at the forefront of the Automotive market, we are looking for a Control Systems Manager to join our Control Development team. 


Recent successes for the control systems team at McLaren Automotive include the development of a brand-new transmission, traction and damping control systems for 720s and Senna vehicle lines. The team are continuously pushing for the introduction of new technology for McLaren vehicle lines, wanting to engineer in different ways with a focus of enhancing the customer experience.

As Control Systems Manager, you will lead the team in writing and delivering brand defining systems for various vehicle control systems such as suspension, active aero, braking, transmission, hybrid and HVAC. The role will not be without it’s challenges as we look to bring in more content in house, introduce new technology and custom functions to our vehicles and managing teams in different locations (overseas). Your scope will cover everything we develop in house in terms of coding, methodology, tools and outsourcing.  Responsible for the delivery of projects - on time, to resource, and management of release.


Working with other engineering teams, the software will be developed in accordance to functional safety policy, your input will be required towards the customisation of software policy.

Furthermore, you will be responsible for future roadmap definition for all control systems, vehicle dynamics in particular.

In return, there is the opportunity for you to expand the team due to new business opportunities and recently expanded business plan with Track25. This role will allow you to remain as technical as you like making decisions on control systems and having technical authority in house. McLaren driver training will also be offered and you will have the opportunity to enroll in the McLaren management effectiveness program.


You will play a key part ensuring the right people are on the right project and empowering the sub team to make decisions solving problems in the field and input in to research and development.


Software development experience in an automotive field is vital, specifically within vehicle dynamics as this will be the focus, with transmission and hybrid also part of the role. Having worked in a similar environment previously, you should have Matlab/Simulink experience and a strong understanding within functional safety requirements.

Managing a technical team of 15 with 4 direct reports, responsible for complex control systems, you should have proven team leadership experience to provide technical direction and motivation to the team.
