Systems Accountant - Continuous Improvement



Purpose of the role:

  • To create, design and implement business relevant systems, data, processes, and procedures that are robust, effective, well-communicated and trained to help the business achieve its long-term business plan and vision to be ‘The iconic sports car Company’
  • Act as a centre of excellence for continuous improvement from a system, data, process, and procedures perspective
  • To be a role model and demonstrate living the MAL values


Principal accountabilities:

  • Change management
  • Creates a business area roadmap for the short, medium, and long term
  • Identifies business needs, pain points and quick wins and translates these into systems and process solutions - creates, designs and implements approaches that enhance the service received by the customer, adhering to the CI specification process for system, training and role changes
  • Project manages systems, data, process, and procedure projects by using the appropriate project management techniques 
  • Manages the integration points across the business functions & defines security controls in partnership with other CI Managers
  • Defines solution and test preparation documents in conjunction with IT’s Centre of Excellence. Accountable for overall test scope and integrity of testing activities
  • Defines, updates and embeds the required business process documentation (BPDs) in conjunction with Business Process Owner(s)
  • Reports upwards to keep your executive and management audience updated with progress on system developments and projects in consideration
  • Liaises with senior stakeholders on major change gaps and solution readiness
  • Acts as a centre of excellence to all internal and external stakeholders on your business area’s systems and their integration to related processes, policies, procedures, data, system roles and culture
  • Manages third party supplier relationships CoE, Wipro etc.
  • Manages any assigned budgets and implements commercially sound agreements as needed




  • Accountable for working with the business area managers and HR to ensure timely role mapping of resource. Monitors role coverage across the business area flagging and addressing any system areas with limited cover.
  • Accountable for the creation, update & delivery of system training materials and liaison with key training stakeholders to ensure all users are trained to appropriate level in an appropriate timeframe
  • Accountable for communications to the business area to support and ensure the uptake of system developments
  • Addresses issues with training programmes and communication plans as needed
  • Support
  • Educates the business area’s CI team (CI Analysts, CI Support, Training Leads) and the business on the tools, techniques, and mechanisms available to support business deliverables. Trains and develops the CI Team on systems, data management, processes, and procedures
  • Leads the Continuous Improvement team to provide resolutions to complex support issues that are assigned to them, coordinating resources from various disciplines
  • Coordinates the provision of first line support to the business area, identifies trends or repetition in these support needs and implements improvements
  • Provides the business area with KPIs/data/insight on the effectiveness of business processes and process adherence
  • Acts as a change champion 
  • Works on ad hoc business area projects as required


Finance specific requirements

  • Analyse the ongoing requirement of the finance department,
  • Review existing systems and processes
  • Design and deliver improvements to the SAP system and surrounding processes to improve departmental efficiency
  • Working alongside the F, P & A department to improve the quality, timeliness, and relevance of financial reporting across the whole business.
  • Work within the CI team to ensure all CI projects impacting on Finance have the appropriate finance involvement.


Knowledge, skills & experience:

  • Qualified accountant
  • A clear understanding of the commercial drivers of the business and how systems, data management, process and procedures can play a key role in the success
  • Has previously worked in greenfield organisations that have operated flexibly to create and provide direction
  • Experience of partnering senior managers to produce long term strategies around systems, data management, processes, and procedures
  • A good knowledge of systems, data management, processes and procedures approaches with evidence of successful application and ROI
  • Exceptional technical skills in understanding systems (e.g. SAP)
  • Excellent organisational and prioritisation skills
  • Excellent administrator with strong attention to detail
  • Experience in providing consultancy to internal or external stakeholders
  • Has acted as a centre of excellence that is successfully interwoven into the wider team
  • Is able to matrix manage different people across the business
  • Has experience of working successfully in a ‘standalone’ role
  • Strong people manager
  • Competent trainer
