Chief Platform Engineer - HV Batteries

Location: Woking, GB

Purpose of the Role

  • reports to the Platform Director
  • is the leading authority for all technical aspects of the designated Platform System Programmes (base system and installation with ancillary systems), from G-2 through to Series. 
  • provides the ultimate technical authority across all departments leading the technical definition and execution of the designated Platform System Programmes both internally and to the extended enterprise and supply chain
  • is accountable for the successful delivery of Platform System Programmes to all set targets and is responsible for supporting the Programme Management team with planning and resource requirements from pre-G0 to G9 and Series.
  • delivers all technical aspects of the designated Platform System Programmes and the associated ancillaries for their in-vehicle installation in accordance with
    • attribute, performance and legislation targets
    • budget cost
    • vehicles and platform timing plan
    • PMXU plan
  • Works in a collaborative and simultaneous platform engineering and programme team to deliver the designated Platform System base programmes.
  • Works in a collaborative and simultaneous vehicle engineering and programme team to deliver the designated Platform System installation and ancillaries.
  • in pre-G0 phases, is accountable for integrating innovations from technology road maps into Platform System programmes, collaborating with the Advanced Engineering Team and using appropriate risk assessments, target setting and conceptual design to deliver best-in-class platform systems.
  • must use technical insight to develop programme plans that efficiently deliver projects in the shortest possible time to market, while exceeding customer expectations for the highest product quality.
  • Leads a small team of assistants to discharge key responsibilities and accountabilities.

 

Knowledge, skills & experience:

  • Leader, able to successfully bear influence across the organization at all levels including Exec Directors.
  • Educated to degree level (minimum 2:1) or equivalent
  • Must have a proven track record of Leading Product Development teams in Automotive, Motorsport or similar industries.
  • Is without doubt an expert in the field of the designated Platform System, not only by general Automotive Industry standards, but also in the Supercar/High end Formula Motorsport market segment.
  • must possess a strong combination of broad and specialist knowledge and experience of every technical aspect of the designated Platform System programme
    • Problem solving (ideally PPS, alternatively 8D), FMEA,SAP
    • Concept and detailed Design methods, including design standards, Geometrical Tolerancing, 3D and 2D CAD modelling
