For the next 6 years as part of McLaren’s Track 22 plan, we are looking to invest £1 billion into Research and Development, leading to the launch of 15 all-new cars or derivatives during this period.

The Data Scientist will be entirely responsible for all McLaren customer data. Taking full data stewardship and data protection officer responsibilities. The role will provide industry leading expertise to advance the entire marketing department.

Purpose of the role:

The Data Scientist will own the continued role out of the current CRM system.  This will include data migration, integrating new data sources, testing and roll out. Both on a practical field level detail and strategic overview.

The Data Scientist will become the main gatekeeper for all customer data, taking the lead in implementing and raising industry leading standards and best business practice.

Principal accountabilities:

  • Responsible for all customer data information sources which feed into the CRM system, working with the wider business to ensure compliance in line with DPS (Data Protection Statement) and the broader business strategy
  • Provide thought leadership on the use of the CRM system to ensure maximum value can be extracted
  • With McLaren Special Operations implement a VIP customer management solution
  • Provide strategic direction for the McLaren Automotive marketing and product strategy
  • Day to Day management of the CRM system, ensuring data quality is maintained
  • Work with the retailer network and the regional marketing managers with their individual data requirements
  • Management and improvement of the registration process, and dissemination of leads to the retailer networks
  • Maintain the structure of the database, ensuring configuration and architecture remains in line with core business need
  • Be the “Data Advocate” by raising the profile of data within the Business
  • Develop and optimise CRM processes to improve business performance

Knowledge, skills and experience:

  • Experience in implementation and management of world class CRM and data solutions
  • Advanced data architecture expertise
  • Expert knowledge of: SQL, SAP, MS Dynamics, Oracle / Eloqua
  • Experience of implementation and management of campaign management software
  • Big data experience: Azure, Hadoop, MongoDB etc.
  • Advanced data modelling and analytics: SAS, IBM Modeller, MS Power BI, Tableau
  • Ability to confidently run data queries with an understanding of the business objective to ensure the best possible solution
