Business Technology Director - Applied Technologies

Purpose of the role:

  • End–end accountability for all technical aspects of the Business Aligned Technology vertical (cost, quality, time to deliver)
  • Acts as a liaison between McLaren IT team and the Businesses, representing the voice of key customers segments in the delivery of requirements
  • Translates Business outcome needs into technical requirements necessary to create value for McLaren businesses
  • Acts as the primary business representative to Delivery teams to connect business and technology
  • Own the backlog on behalf of the business, prioritising based on criteria including resourcing and alignment to strategy
  • Own the user experience and product direction for their platform/application
  • Empowered to make on-the-spot decisions on scope and requirements and is overall responsible for product backlog, story prioritization and acceptance criteria

Key responsibilities:

  • Defining and delivering business technology strategy for McLaren's Applied Technologies Unit. 
  • Manage product backlog in order to prioritise Business technology requirements
  • Communicate with other Business Technology Leads, platform and service owners to exchange ideas and ensure co-ordinated and mutually supportive backlogs
  • Establish technical requirements for Services
  • Interface to key business stakeholders to communicate impact McLaren IT can have on our business outcomes and commercial targets
  • Lead the planning product release plans and set expectations for delivery of new functionalities
  • Establish and track performance indicators, and the value of technologies delivered to the Businesses

Essential knowledge, skills and experience:

  • Experience working as a Product Manager or Senior Business Analyst, designing and developing software solutions
  • Experience working in an agile software development environment
  • Experience supporting the development of IT propositions, working with multiple business stakeholders
  • Proven ability to define a set of requirements that pinpoint business challenges and identify technical and business changes required to address them
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely across technology and the business teams

The Recruitment Process:

  • If your application is successful, you’ll be invited for a phone interview with one of our experienced technical recruiters.
  • Following successful review, you will then partake in a 30-minute telephone interview with one of our Senior Stakeholders.
  • The final stage will be an onsite face to face interview at the McLaren Technology Centre in Woking, Surrey where you will present to our Senior Stakeholders and Executive team.
