Purpose of the Role:

Develop and support internally developed software products for customer applications. The role is a blend of client facing interactions and technical deliverables to ensure that McLaren Applied Technologies software products are at their highest standard.

MIDAS stands for "McLaren Integrated Data, Analysis and Simulation". It has been developed for the best part of two decades by McLaren as a single point from which its engineers manage and analyse all of their technical data. It provides several tools to make configuring, running and analysing different sources of data (both real and simulated) as consistent, transparent and error free as possible. It has been used for applications as diverse as a Formula 1 racing simulator, a golf club and a supermarket. Supporting and contributing to the development of bespoke simulations, analysis tools and other content is a key part of the service we offer our customers.

 

Principal Accountabilities

  • Support and undertake development of simulation and data analysis tools for both internal and external use of MIDAS across a range of applications
  • Maintain and present documentation, tutorials, and marketing material for MIDAS
  • Promote software and simulation development best practice both internally and externally
  • Respond to customer requirements and needs in a timely manner
  • Manage own backlog of work

 

Knowledge, Skills, Qualifications and Experience:

  • Degree in Engineering or equivalent discipline, 2.1 or above
  • Advanced level of knowledge and substantial experience of the Matlab and Simulink languages
  • Computation modelling experience (any language)
  • Methodical analysis and innovative problem solving techniques
  • Experience of modern software development techniques is preferable
  • Experience in .NET and object-oriented programming is preferable
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
