We now have a fantastic opportunity for a Regional Marketing Specialist to join our North Asia Regional Team. Based in Tokyo, the Marketing Specialist will be responsible for developing McLaren’s dealer network in North Asia to deliver exceptional marketing activities. 

Covering a current network of 4 dealers in 3 countries, the successful candidate should expect regular travel across the region as McLaren grows its operation in some of the fastest growing markets in the world.  The Marketing Specialist will not only be responsible for guiding our appointed dealers but will also manage the region-wide activity led by the McLaren Automotive Asia office.

Ultimately, the successful candidate will be tasked with ensuring that McLaren is truly identified as the number 1 luxury sportscar manufacturer in the region. 

Principal accountabilities:

  • Develop & execute the McLaren marketing strategy within Asia Pacific
  • Manage & deliver regional marketing events
  • Build McLaren’s share of voice in regional automotive & lifestyle media
  • Central point of contact for dealers & factory
  • Contribute & assist in the development of the regional marketing strategy
  • Co-ordinate and partner with marketing & event colleagues in Japan, Singapore, and the UK
  • Conceptualise, manage and deliver regional events such as track days, lifestyle events, retailer conferences, etc.
  • Co-ordinate with the Sales Manager to plan and deliver new product launches, dealer openings and retailer marketing events
  • Write, issue and monitor the impact of regional press releases
  • Monitor & measure region-wide media coverage value
  • Event & creative agency management
  • Manage and increase the value delivered from the regional marketing budget
  • Build McLaren brand awareness through coaching, developing and motivating the dealer network
  • Set and agree annual dealership targets for all marketing metrics
  • Conduct dealer visits and review performance against KPIs and provide ideas and initiatives designed to raise performances
  • Implement and track dealer improvement plans where required
  • Provide effective communication between the factory and all dealership staff on matters relating to their marketing / promotion of the brand
  • Ensure the operational dealer network represents the McLaren brand in line with the corporate identify
  • Significant involvement in retailer and factory events across Asia and Europe
  • Become a McLaren Brand Ambassador through developing an excellent knowledge of our product & brand strategy
  • Support of and participation in McLaren conducted brand & retail marketing training

Personal attributes / behavioural skills:

This is a high profile role that requires a dynamic and ambitious individual that will instinctively identify areas of improvement and implement pragmatic solutions. Ideally from an automotive background, this individual will have a passion for sportscars, motorsport and cultural trends.

A keen observer of automotive market activity, this person should have a meticulous eye for detail whilst maintaining a holistic and inclusive overview.  An understanding of luxury market dynamics and customer requirements from market to market, will be important when supporting to formulate McLaren’s marketing strategy.

This role requires someone that enjoys working in a small entrepreneurial team and is not afraid of taking responsibility for large programmes of work.  Stakeholder management and the ability to influence people from all walks from life are key skills required for success in this role. 

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate the ability to formulate, deliver and track the effectiveness of a chosen strategy.  This role requires an individual that excited by the opportunity to deliver tangible results.

  • Degree level education
  • IT literate with strong knowledge and experience with Microsoft Excel
