Product & Pricing Specialist - Americas

This individual will report to the Sales Operations and Product Manager – Americas and will work closely with Sales, Finance, Marketing, Aftersales, Financial Services, and relevant Head Office functions (principally Product Management, Commercial Operations, McLaren Special Operations). This role will act as the product and pricing expert within region, facilitating both outbound and inbound information exchange with the central product management and pricing functions.  The outbound element of the role will ensure the regional marketing, sales and network teams have ready access to the latest current and future product information.  It will also support training and sales product presentations. 

The inbound element of the role will ensure detailed regional product and pricing trends and information – such as regional competitor specifications and customer preferences - are represented and reflected in the product development strategy. 

The role will also support the central product function with limited discrete global product research and reporting functions.

Additionally, the role will manage the internal Marketing, Press and Pure fleets.

Principal accountabilities:

Market analytics – produce market, customer, product and pricing reports

  • Develop data driven reports and dashboards to analyse country and sub-region specific markets from a product, sales and customer perspective.
  • Assess McLaren and competitor vehicle and options positioning and sales performance.
  • Pricing intelligence – operate and co-ordinate competitor price capture across the competitor set.
  • Verify competitor pricing and movements, analyse and build own conclusions with recommendations for management.
  • Analyse and sense-check data and be able to identify trends and draw own conclusions.

Support development of award-winning market appropriate product through the provision of detailed regional product insight

  • Develop understanding and report on regional customer segmentation, product requirements and buying behaviour through discussions with retailer partners, including making recommendations for regional and global implementation.
  • Represent the regional view and make evidence-based proposals for pricing and product features and attributes, feeding into the central product and pricing functions.
  • Responsible for providing regional option take-up rates that drive vehicle programme profitability.
  • Build typical regional customer archetypes based on customer and retailer feedback, describing buying criteria, product usage and acceptor/rejector drivers.
  • As agreed with central product function, conduct specific customer product research on proposed new features/concepts.

Be the regional ‘product expert’ conveying technical knowledge with a passion for the product

  • In depth understand of McLaren product range specification, engineering backstory and customer feature benefits.
  • Detailed understanding of competitor set including region specific specification and pricing.
  • Develop and deliver regional (and where necessary global) product presentations.
  • Drive regional product knowledge through delivering training programmes for regional and dealer staff.
  • Present product and product features to McLaren prospects and customers.

Support the Global Product Management function with the development of global product content/reporting

  • Under direction of Product Manager perform analysis of global product data e.g. options analysis.
  • Take responsibility to produce Regional and sub-Regional product documents e.g. Product Guides, as directed by the central product function.
  • Assist Global Product and Marketing teams in the production of global and regional product information e.g. customer facing product and pricing information for the Americas.

Manage Marketing, Press and Pure Fleet Ordering & Logistics

  • Ensure internal fleets are ordered on-time and with adherence to the respective sales and finance guidelines.
  • Manage mileage, logistics, and de-fleeting process of internal fleet.
  • Make sure vehicles are spec’d to ensure high Residual Values.

Knowledge, skills & experience:

  • Minimum Bachelor’s Degree level educated (preferably in Data Analytics/Science).
  • 1-2 years operational and hands-on data analytics experience required.
  • Highly advanced in either Power BI or Tableau.
  • Expert level in Microsoft Excel with in-depth experience using the most complex data processing, analysis, and modelling functions including.
  • Highly competent in using data to tell a compelling story using meticulous, clear, and powerful PowerPoint presentations.
  • Understand that intelligence of presentation is key to deliver convincing arguments to management.
  • Stakeholder management:  Must be able to work across multiple levels both within the organisation and the wider retailer network, with an ability to explain complex product and pricing considerations and gain consensus for recommendations.
  • Knowledge and practical experience of using commercial KPIs to drive net vehicle and option contribution margin improvement.
  • Experience in automotive product marketing is desirable but not essential.
  • Although existing detailed product knowledge is desirable, it is not a prerequisite for the job, however, the candidate should be genuinely interested in the automotive industry and be eager to learn.
  • The necessary written and language skills to articulate complex engineering material into customer facing marketing and sales material. Conversely able to articulate customer and market facing vehicle requirements into engineering detail and tangible objectives.
  • Language – fluency in English.
