Senior Program Manager, Energy Storage Systems

We’re in a period of unprecedented innovation in the automotive industry as we move away from conventional powertrains towards hybrid and eventually fully electric vehicles. Your leadership, knowledge, and experience will ensure McLaren Automotive is at the forefront of this ever-changing landscape. You’ll be managing the delivery of all energy storage systems (ESS) from concept through to production in our new, state-of-the-art facility in Sheffield. It’s a high-profile position, reporting into the Head of Electric Drive Technology and taking ownership of one of the most critical parts of our business plan.

McLaren Automotive is committed to being at the forefront of innovation, development, and investment over the next decade, and it’s our goal to produce an EV hyper-car by the end of the 2020s. To make this goal a reality, we’re rapidly growing our Electric Drive team, based between Woking and Sheffield. We can’t do this without strong leaders who share our vision and passion - which is where you come in.

You’ll work alongside our Senior Engineering Manager who leads a team of ESS Engineers, and you’ll manage the ESS assembly planning and allocation, supplier management, quality concerns, and production releases. Using your extensive technical knowledge of ESS production, battery technology and storage solutions, together with your programme management experience, you will successfully deliver ESS solutions for multiple programmes running concurrently, as well as making sure we can deliver against our ambitious roadmap.

The Electric Drive team is around 30 strong currently, and we’re expecting this to grow to over 70 in the next couple of years. You’ll be recruiting and developing your engineering and production team and developing them into high performers, leaving a substantial mark on the future of McLaren Automotive’s engineering capability.

As well as your technical background in ESS technology and programme management, collaboration is key. You’ll work closely with Supplier Quality Assurance (SQA) and Purchasing, and influencing the vehicle programme and Electric Drive teams to guarantee the team collectively delivers against the vehicle attributes and specifications.

This is a truly unique opportunity, and a genuinely exciting time to be a part of McLaren Automotive. We’re making great strides in electric drive technology and we want you to join us on this journey.
