To ensure McLaren Automotive continues its desire to be “the sportscar company”, we are looking for a Production Manager to join our team at the McLaren Composites Technology Centre in Sheffield.


Purpose of the Role:

The Production Manager will play a 'hands on' role in the daily operational management to ensure adherence to production plan whilst maintaining planned inventory levels. You will be able to demonstrate a sound understanding of manufacturing practices, ensuring that all operational efficiency targets are achieved whilst minimising risk and maintaining a safe environment and high-quality standards. You will monitor actual performance against standards and take appropriate action when required, ensuring sufficient resource is available for the production areas and effectively managing the workloads of your team.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Direct and manage production group leaders, team leaders.
  • Deploy a culture of excellence through employee engagement
  • Drive culture of continuous improvement
  • Develop resource plans to support forecast customer demand
  • Ensure customer schedule is delivered on time
  • Responsible for the recruitment, training and continuous development of production employees
  • Implement safe systems of work and positive safety culture
  • Responsible for compliance with all required regulations and policies
  • Plan and deploy Lean Production System
  • Ensure adherence to standardised working and quality systems through process confirmation
  • Deliver outstanding quality through proactive process control and measurement system adherence
  • Establish reliable data collection for JPH / OEE and track trends with KPI
  • Improve efficiency through the analysis of OEE data and implementation of actions
  • Implement robust preventative maintenance schedules for all equipment
  • Implement structured problem-solving techniques for robust issue resolution
  • Interface with support functions including Engineering, Quality, Logistics, Maintenance, Business Development, Finance, & HR to ensure alignment with overall plant operations.
  • Identify best practices from within and outside industry
  • Additional duties and responsibilities as assigned


 Skills and Experience:

  • Volume automotive manufacturing background
  • Direct responsibility for leadership of teams
  • Experience in production management and manufacturing engineering roles
  • Launch of new products and processes
  • Degree in engineering / manufacturing or equivalent manufacturing experience
  • Application of lean production systems
  • 6 Sigma deployment
