Our team
As a part of our Modelling and Decision Sciences function, you will build the modelling components that underpin our data-driven products and solutions from research and design, prototype and validation, through to deployment. You will work as part of cross-disciplinary teams alongside software engineers, systems engineers, and designers.
You will also contribute to our core technology platforms for data and model management, as well as pushing forward our capability in our three key areas of Modelling and Decision Science: modelling insight, optimisation and control.


The role
This role is for a Senior Simulation Engineer to lead on the development of Simulation technologies for our driver-in-the-loop Simulator products. You will work closely with our Business unit team to understand customer requirements and turn them into advances in the product roadmap, for example through developing higher fidelity models to enhance user experience, creating more efficient real-time code, or improving robustness of optimisation algorithms.


Principal accountabilities
•Plan and lead development of simulation solutions across full product lifecycle, in line with business objectives and technology roadmap.
•Lead on continuously improving product development and team best practices.
•Provide technical input to proposals and bids, and work alongside commercial team with clients/partners.
•Manage interactions with other technical disciplines on product development.
•Ensure that solutions meet requirements, including functional safety needs where required.
•Mentor more junior members of the team.
Knowledge, skills, qualifications and experience

•Degree in Engineering or equivalent discipline, 2.1 or above.
•Advanced level of knowledge and substantial experience of the Matlab and Simulink languages.
•Dynamic modelling experience.
•Experience using optimisation algorithms.
•Methodical analysis and innovative problem solving technique.
•Experience with vehicle dynamics modelling.
•Experience with lap time optimisation and dynamic non-linear programming.
•Knowledge of machine learning.
•Knowledge of Python.
•Experience in customer-facing roles.

Work environment
You will be based with the Modelling and Decision Science function in our London office in Waterloo, but will spend significant time at the McLaren Technology Centre to be close to our Simulator technology.
