The role

The role is to build on our rich base of technology and customer relationships to create a growing and sustainable line of business within the sector. To drive the development and growth of McLaren Applied Technologies through developing strategy, propositions and customer engagements in the health, wellness and life sciences industries. McLaren Applied Technologies has a number of long standing relationships focussed on delivering step change performance across all areas of business, from early R&D through to manufacturing and supply. These cornerstone partners will occupy a significant part of the Business Development Directors focus, in the first instance, evolving to incorporate other Pharmaceutical and Medical Device accounts in the fullness of time.

You will have a strong and proven track record of building long term growth relationships with clients in the pharmaceutical and / or health technology sector. Having formed those relationships, you will be proactive in developing and managing these relationships for long term growth and mutual success. You will be adept at understanding products and capabilities, matching those with client needs and then communicating those propositions clearly and coherently as a portfolio to the client and the market. You will be a highly focussed, high-energy individual, capable of operating autonomously with minimal direction and able to interact quickly and easily with our own multi-disciplinary team and those of customers and partners.

Requirements

  • Educated to degree level – 2:1 minimum (preferably in a science, technology, engineering or mathematics discipline)
  • Demonstrable and strong commercial experience directing for growth one or more major relationships in the pharmaceutical and / or health technology sector, with experience in a technology-based company with strong brand presence, values and ambition

Skills and expertise

  • Building and maintaining key relationships at all levels with GSK other multinational pharmaceutical businesses
  • Experienced in solution sales of technical products in complex technical and business environments
  • Account management for long term value development
  • An appreciation of the growth and communication of brand value
  • Working effectively and proactively within and supporting multi-disciplinary technical and commercial teams, and in an international environment
  • Experience of strategy / management consulting an added benefit

The work environment

You will be based at the world-renowned McLaren Technology Centre. Our campus includes a subsidised restaurant, a café, a gym with a pool, break-out spaces, bicycle storage facilities and more.
Our environment is designed to encourage collaborative working across all teams. You will be within one hundred metres of a specialist within their field, whether it’s in design, modelling and simulation, software development, data analytics, electronics hardware, finance and marketing.
