Our team

The Platform & Concepts Software team is responsible for the development of a new Digital Analytics Platform which provides high volume data analysis support for cloud-based telemetry, modelling and visualisation of big data. The team is also responsible for building applications that run on the platform in Digital Therapeutics, Intelligent Transport, Motorsport and other areas. Occasional travel and working unsocial hours may be required.

The role

We are looking for a Software Development Manager to enhance our software development team, to deliver against existing commitments and to drive the growth within the team.

Requirements

  • Computer Science or Software Engineering degree, 2.1 or Masters preferred.
  • Agile advocate with a thorough understanding of Agile software development methodologies, values and procedures.
  • Ability to understand technical issues and determine feasibility.
  • Development and delivery lead experience on software projects using Java and preferably also C# throughout a full commercial product lifecycle.
  • Proven track record of delivery.

Skills and expertise

Experience in or demonstrated understanding of:

  • The principles of software engineering, including OO development, concurrency and design patterns.
  • Big data
  • Web services and cloud hosting.
  • LAMP and .NET
  • Persistence frameworks and databases.
  • Deployment, continuous integration and package management.

Familiarity with, or desirable skills in:

  • The design, implementation and delivery of telemetry/modelling/simulation based products.
  • Targeting multiple platforms/devices.
  • Rapid prototyping.
  • Continuous deployment and configuration management.

Personal attributes

  • We are looking for a self-starter who is confident when making decisions.

The work environment

You will be based at our unique offices in the South Bank area of London. The building boasts spacious offices and meeting rooms, a gaming lounge and stunning views of London. It also hosts weekly events, classes, workshops and happy hours, encouraging the best and brightest to network and discuss the next big idea to hit the tech industry over a drink or two.

Some travel to the McLaren Technology Centre (Woking, Surrey) will be required.

Recruitment process

  • If your application is successful, you’ll be invited for a phone interview with one of our experienced technical recruiters. 
  • If our recruiter believes you're suitable for the role, you will then be asked to complete a technical challenge. This will be completed in your own time. 
  • If you are successful, you’ll then be invited for a phone interview with one of the hiring managers which will include technical questions relating to the job role.
  • The final stage involves a face to face interview in London or at the McLaren Technology Centre, with the hiring manager and other members of the team.
