Our team

As a part of Modelling and Decision Sciences, you will develop technologies to enhance McLaren's analytics capability and deliver solutions to complex industrial problems. You will support projects and concepts across our key Business Units including Health, Public Transport, Automotive, Motorsport and our Strategic Partnerships.
As a member of the Business Analysis & Analytics squad, you will form the front line to understand client needs and convert them into technical solutions. Working closely with the clients, partners, and internal business units, to build the definition of the problem, as well as with technical teams to deliver complex solutions. Combining relevant market and commercial expertise with hands on data science/modelling/simulation skills alongside a comprehensive view of solutions architecture. In a unique position to drive innovation in line with the strategic goals of MAT/MDSci, by bridging the gap between the various technical teams and business / market facing units.

The role

Support the creation and productisation of our industry-leading simulation models and tools across a wide range of industries and applications. Develop control and optimisation techniques to solve engineering problems across multiple industries.Capture problem-specific system dynamics to create computational models in order to solve problems across a wide range of industries. Model a variety of system types and dynamics; from cognitive models to kinematic models. Appraise system design and implementation to ensure product meets client specification.
Undertake continual adjustments with stakeholders, producing accurate and clear status reports.Research and development of new technologies following up to date global technology trends to ensure competitive advantage is maintained.Cross-disciplinary technology involvement working with other teams to utilise skills to enhance our offering to clients and stakeholders. Develop models for deployment to a real-time environment including parameter management techniques and scheduling.


  • Degree in Engineering or equivalent discipline, 2.1 or above 
  • Advanced level of knowledge and substantial experience of the Matlab and Simulink languages
  • Dynamic modelling experience (Vehicle Dynamics is preferable)

Skills and expertise

  • Experience with machine learning techniques or languages is preferable 
  • Methodical analysis and innovative problem solving technique
  • Experience of optimisation algorithms; preferably lap time optimisation and dynamic non-linear programming

You will be based at our unique offices in the South Bank area of London. The building boasts spacious offices and meeting rooms, a gaming lounge and stunning views of London. Some travel to the McLaren Technology Centre (Woking, Surrey) will be required.

Recruitment process

  • If our recruiter believes you're suitable for the role, you will then be asked to complete a technical challenge. This will be completed in your own time.
  • If you are successful, you’ll then be invited for a phone interview with one of the hiring managers which will include technical questions relating to the job role.
  • The final stage involves a face to face interview in London or at the McLaren Technology Centre, with the hiring manager and other members of the team.
