Senior Data Scientist (Decision Insight)

Location: London, GB

As a Senior Data Scientist, you will collaborate within a multidisciplinary team to iteratively develop, validate and deliver complex modelling solutions that underpin our digital products. Additionally, you will work to harvest reusable technology, and to continuously improve team processes and best-practice.

  • Plan and lead development of analytical solutions from design through to implementation and testing
  • Act as technical lead on team-specific projects, and as functional lead on cross-functional projects
  • Drive the improvement of team processes by taking a lead role in team activities such as project estimation, code reviews and retrospectives
  • Identify and develop core analytical components for delivery of products
  • Identify the 'right tool for the job' for different tasks, including technical and commercial considerations
  • Manage interactions with other functions in the company, and provide technical input to proposals/commercial activities
  • Own an area of technical specialism within the team and drive forward best practice and development in that area
  • Mentor junior team members and contribute to the continuous improvement of the team
  • Engage and influence key stakeholders in making recommendations on technical approaches, data or tools

You will have:

  • Experience in solving complex data-driven problems using Python, MATLAB, or R.
  • Experience in using either data-driven or simulation-driven modelling to understand the behaviour of systems, or to solve industrial problems.
  • Experience with good software practices in a modelling setting (e.g. testing, clean code).

We would also welcome technical expertise in; Discrete-event/agent based simulation, Optimisation, Statistics, Machine Learning or writing object-oriented code.

You will work as part of cross-disciplinary teams alongside software engineers, operational performance specialists, product managers and business-facing teams.
