Based in the Front End Team, your team collaborates with our Java, Scala and C# teams with end-to-end responsibilities, including design, commit, deploy, maintenance operations to deliver world class products. We encourage autonomy. You will have the freedom to architect solutions as part of a self-organising team. Choose whichever language and framework you want, but we like elegant and simple solutions.

The role

We’re now recruiting for a rapid expansion in the health and transport sectors, backed up by the combined skills and support from the whole McLaren Technology Group.

We’re looking for front-end developers to create concepts and green-field products. Your expertise will help us develop innovative simulation and modelling applications for the health and transport sectors. Your knowledge of the modern front-end development ecosystem will enable you to recommend appropriate technology choices. You could be writing a web application with AngularJS or a desktop application with Electron, talking to a wide range of back-end services, including C#, Scala and Python.

Requirements

  • First-class or Upper 2nd class degree in Computer Science, or equivalent.
  • Demonstrable programming experience in JavaScript.
  • Good working knowledge of one or more SPA frameworks (e.g. Angular, React, Vue.js)
  • Good understanding of agile practices 
  • Routine use of source control and test frameworks

Skills and expertise

Minimum:

  • HTML and CSS
  • Good working knowledge of one or more SPA frameworks (e.g. Angular, React, Vue.js)
  • Industry experience with RESTful web service design
  • Routine use of source control and test frameworks

Preferred:

  • BSc in Computer Science.
  • Familiarity with AngularJS and Node.js
  • Some familiarity with C#, Java or Scala back-ends
  • Any specific knowledge from the Healthcare or Transport sectors would be greatly valued

The work environment

You will be based at our new, unique and spacious offices in the South Bank area of London. The building has bike storage space, showers and stunning views of London. The building hosts weekly networking events, happy hours, classes and workshops.

Some travel to the McLaren Technology Centre (Woking, Surrey) will be required

Recruitment process

  • If our experienced technical recruiters find your application is suitable for the role, you will be asked to complete a coding assessment. The assessment will be completed in your own time.
  • If your coding assessment is successful, you’ll be invited for a phone interview with one of our hiring managers which will include technical questions relating to the job role.
  • The final stage involves a face to face interview in London or at the McLaren Technology Centre, with the hiring manager and other members of the team. This interview will include a pair programming exercise.
