The SAP Solutions Manager is responsible for managing the Finance, HR and Business Solutions Service delivery within McLaren IT. The primary role is to lead the Corporate Solutions team to deliver outstanding solutions that enable and drive the McLaren businesses. This involves delivering a flexible high quality technical capability, strong system and process integrity as well as proactive support services.

This will involve working closely with senior management, wider business stakeholders and CoE colleagues to provide functional expertise, deliver continuous improvement initiatives, and build a roadmap of projects aligned to the business strategy.

Role Dimensions:

  • Lead an organisation of 4+ IT employees plus external managed service partners
  • Close liaison with Business Solutions Extended Leadership Team and other IT Stakeholders
  • Close liaison with the Executive Leadership Team in Finance and HR across all McLaren companies
  • Own the development of the support team, processes and technology for Finance and HR across all McLaren companies

Principal Accountabilities:

  • Provide the management, leadership and governance of HR, Finance and Business Solutions Service within the McLaren group of companies and take responsibility for Business Relationship Management.
  • Provide functional expertise, guidance, presentations, and leadership on leveraging the capabilities of SAP and other technologies to all stakeholders.
  • Provide governance and leadership of the relevant technical support teams in alignment with business requirements and IT strategy.
  • Continual evaluation of new SAP technology to support McLaren's business development and innovation.
  • Provide functional expertise, guidance, presentations, and leadership on leveraging the capabilities of SAP FICO, PS and HCM/Successfactors to business stakeholders.
  • Act as principal liaison between business leaders and the CoE for investigating, analysing, and implementing SAP business solutions (this includes documenting and mapping business requirements, analysing processes, identifying business change gaps, and developing the necessary SAP configuration modifications to satisfy business needs).
  • Produce end-to-end solutions for new and existing projects (blueprints, gap analysis, functional specifications, build and test management, etc.).
  • Deliver configuration enhancements from concept to solution (change requests).
  • Manage complex incident resolution (root-cause analysis, problem statements).
  • Deliver continuous improvement releases in line with agreed roadmap.
  • Provide high-quality mentoring to team members and business stakeholders to develop FICO, PS and HCM expertise across the organisation. 
  • Working collaboratively with business stakeholders, develop 12 month roadmaps for continuous improvement and project activities.
  • Provide excellent responsiveness for level 2 and 3 business support requests.
  • Monitor key SAP business processes to ensure they are being followed and where improvement is needed, collaboratively introducing appropriate activities with business users to drive adoption.

Essential Knowledge, Skills and Experience:

  • Strong track record in managing technical support teams (in on-shore and off-shore model)
  • Leading requirement workshops to translate business requirements into business design documents
  • Advise on best practice process and solutions
  • Ensure solutions can effectively transition into live business use
  • Significant, demonstrable experience working in
  1. SAP HCM, in particular Personnel Administration, Organisational Management, Time and Attendance, Payroll and Payroll Interfaces
  2. Success Factors implementation, in particular Employee Central, Role Based Permissions, Learning Management, Recruitment (Desirable)
  3. SAP FICO, in particular Product Costing, COPA, Consolidations in EC-CS (Desirable)
  • Service process improvement, reporting and communication with demonstrated track record of thought leadership in relevant functional processes
  • Strong analytical skills, technical knowledge, and the ability to communicate findings and recommendations to senior stakeholders
  • Business process analysis and redesign experience: strong business analysis skills; process mapping; business process redesign and implementation
  • Systems implementation skills: requirements/process analysis, conceptual and detailed design, configuration, testing, training, change management, support
  • Strong knowledge of integration points
  • Understanding of Cloud based solutions (Desirable)
