As part of McLaren’s Track 25 plan, we are looking to invest £1.2 billion into Research and Development, leading to the launch of 18 all-new cars or derivatives by the end of 2025.

Purpose of the Role
•    This role involves the definition, development and validation of Vehicle Dynamics aspects in McLaren Super Series.
•    You will coordinate the development of different active systems in all McLaren platforms, ensuring that McLaren DNA is maintained across the fleet
•    You will lead the calibration activities and sign off for Traction control and stability systems and define, together with the Controls team, the functional requirements of these systems 
•    You will work together with the project budget owners for defining the development plans and requirements
•    The role involves the simulation, modelling, testing, tuning and validation of suspension, steering and vehicle performance attributes to deliver the high-level vehicle characteristics targets.

Principal Accountabilities
•    Defining and managing development plan with Vehicle Development team 
•    Develop high level control strategies together with CAE and Controls team to ensure attribute targets, a robust and straight forward calibration process
•    Defining attribute targets based on Marketing and vehicle roadmaps
•    Responsible to ensure Dynamics Attribute Sign Off 
•    Responsible to deliver active system calibrations on time according to business software releases coordinating calibration and validation plans
•    Model and simulate “virtual” vehicle to define software functionalities 
•    Understand and resolve issues that arise during development process
•    Tracking and reporting on development status
Knowledge, skills and experience
•    Excellent knowledge of vehicle dynamics
•    Excellent knowledge of high level control system design and tuning
•    Proven experience in calibrating at least two of the following systems (ESP, torque management, E-diff, torque vectoring, body controls or wheel angles controls)
•    Bosch ESP 9 SW / Continental ESP SW knowledge advantageous
•    Excellent knowledge of chassis hardware systems (steering, suspension, tyres)
•    Proven driving skills for high performance vehicles
•    Competent user of Matlab, Simulink and ADAMS car
•    Good skills in managing testing plan
•    Good knowledge of validation, verification and testing process
•    Good knowledge of data logging and calibration systems 
•    Good knowledge of objective manoeuvre driving and subjective vehicle evaluation
•    High sensitivity to assess and develop cars in sub and limit conditions

•    Mechanical or Automotive Engineering Degree 
•    PHD or Masters in Mechanical / Automotive Engineering advantageous
•    Excellent English language required
•    Spanish language advantageous

•    Ability to communicate (written and oral) technical issues to a non-technical, business audience
•    Must be details oriented, with strong analytical skills and problem solving skills
•    High degree of self-motivation. Must be able to plan and execute work both independently and as a team member
