Vehicle Controls Software Engineer

As part of McLaren’s Track 25 plan, we are looking to invest £1.2 billion into Research and Development, leading to the launch of 18 all-new cars or derivatives by the end of 2025.
A rare and exciting opportunity to join our highly successful controls software development team as a Senior Control Systems Software Engineer. The successful candidate will support the delivery of embedded control algorithms, diagnostics and calibration to the vehicle, with a particular focus on the performance related control systems. The role brings unparalleled levels of responsibility, ownership and direct involvement with our world leading products.
Principal Accountabilities:

  • Establishing and improving the Model-based design environment
  • Support control application development and deployment into production and prototype environments.
  • Fostering a safe development environment for vehicle control applications.
  • Supporting the engineering development pipeline and associated services
  • External supplier management.

Essential Skills and Experience:

  • Model-based control software development and verification
  • Object oriented software development such as Java
  • Build automation using Gradle, Jenkins, or similar.
  • Experience of production development and delivery through all stages of the engineering cycle
  • Verification testing in MIL, SIL and HIL environments, and in-vehicle integration
  • Compliance to industry standards such as ISO26262 and ASPICE.
  • Static code analysis using tools such as Polyspace.

Desirable Skills and Experience:

  • AUTOSAR software components generation and integration
  • Awareness of industry best practice for model based design, simulation, and testing.
  • Simulink/Matlab Target Language Compiler (TLC) development.
  • Fixed point software development.
