ADAS Engineer – Camera Systems

McLaren Automotive’s mission is to build the iconic sports car. McLaren is a technology company, and the application of technology, with our attention to detail is what differentiates us from our competitors. The Electrical & Controls department is a fast paced and rewarding environment where ideas can be turned into product quickly. 

As a member of the Electrical Systems team, you will be part of a core systems design & development team focused on systems for future McLaren sports cars. You will be responsible for camera systems from designing and developing technology through the engineering lifecycle, into production.



This is a unique opportunity to play a pivotal role in the delivery of ADAS Vision systems within an OEM. You will be responsible for the design and development of Surround View Cameras, Rear View Cameras, Camera Monitor System (eMirrors) to name a few. You will define the features, attributes, system design and validation requirements from the earliest of concept stages. You will work on cameras roadmaps and technology demonstrators to help define how McLaren utilises advanced vision technologies in the future.

As a System Engineer, you will be responsible for: system specification, DFMEA, functional safety, BoM management, validation planning, test specification, vehicle verification & validation. For your systems, you will be responsible for delivering all required elements of the McLaren Development Process (MDP) to agreed gateway timings & cost. You will have multi system, multi vehicle responsibility and will help shape the vehicle electrical architecture.


Qualifications & Skills

Higher degree qualified in Electrical & Electronic Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Computer Science or a related technical discipline or equivalent experience.

At least 2 years’ experience of ADAS systems design & development, systems engineering & the engineering V-lifecycle within an OEM or tier 1.

Experience with any of the following would be advantageous: visions systems, radar systems, mono & stereo camera systems, ultrasonic sensors, functional safety (ISO26262).

Experience with Vector automotive products (or equivalent) e.g. CANoe, CANape, CANalyser, would be advantageous. 

A valid UK driving licence.
